¶ Photoshop Basics (image & graphics)

The following Photoshop tutorial covers some of the basics of how to improve image quality. Photoshop is available in the Digital Studio. To access it, you need to sign in using your Adobe account. If you don't have an account, you will need to create one using your BC email address.

This is the unedited version of the photograph we will be working with.

Enhancing Images

  1. First select an image of your choice.

  2. After downloading your image, open the Photoshop software, click File and select Open to insert your image.

  3. To brighten the image, click Image in the upper left menu

4. Go to Adjustments

5. Go to Vibrance

Make sure the preview icon is selected, it enables you to view changes to your work.

Changing Filters

  1. In order to change the filter on the image, select Image

2. Go to Adjustments

3. Go to Photo Filter. Choose the filter of your choice.

Cropping Images

  1. First select an image of your choice.

  2. After downloading your image, open the Photoshop software, click File and select Open to insert your image.

3. To crop, click the box on the left hand column within Photoshop.

4. Next, click the upper corner of your image and drag the box to where you want to crop it to.

5. Finally, click out of the image.

Adjusting Saturation

  1. First select an image of your choice.

  2. After downloading your image, open the Photoshop software, click File and select Open to insert your image.

3. To adjust saturation, go to Image in the upper left menu.

4. Go to Adjustments.

5. Go to Hue/Saturation

Adjusting Levels

  1. First select an image of your choice.

  2. After downloading your image, open the Photoshop software, click File and select Open to insert your image.

  3. Next, click Image in the upper left menu

This is the original image with changed saturation.

4. Select Adjustments.

5. Select Levels.

This is the original image with adjusted levels.
